Large outdoor steel and ceramic sculpture
Pianissimo

Sculpture by Gayla Lemke
Bailey, Colorado

"Pianissimo" evokes more than one interpretation. The head is silent and floating, perhaps sleeping or dreaming… yet the silence may have been forced, or be the result of losing the ability or right to speak… perhaps even losing the desire or will to have a voice. The surface treatment of the head shows the influence of primative, tribal art… a time past.
