MARCH 15
WINNER AWARDED
Art for the Mountain Community has chosen a permanent sculpture, “Peace”, to be placed at the new Mt. Evans Hospice and Home Health Care building on Bergen Peak Drive, facing Evergreen Parkway. Chosen from 78 submissions, the piece by Lorri Acott-Fowler is a fourteen foot bronze figure, reaching up to the sky and releasing multi-colored origami folded cranes. In Japan, these cranes are symbols of peace and hope. Lorri believes the figure represents the place and people of Mt Evans Hospice and Health Care. The cranes represent the hope and peace that this organization and the people involved with it bring to our community.
Perhaps you, or a family member, have found some comfort in the care given by Mt. Evans Hospice, or you may have volunteered for a Hospice event. Will you help us honor the valuable contributions in the spirit of hope that Mt. Evans Hospice has made to our mountain community? Your tax-deductible gift will make a lasting difference that will bring joy and beauty to the new Mt. Evans Hospice and Health Care facility as well as to our community. All donations are appreciated and the names of those who donate $1000 or more will be recognized on a bronze plaque beside this striking sculpture. A bronze maquette (a 16 inch replica of the piece) will be given to those donating $2500 or more. “Peace” will be installed in late October and a reception at Mt. Evans Hospice is being planned.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Evans Hospice and Home Health Care delivers professional, compassionate in-home medical care to mountain area residents in four counties who are recuperating from an injury, living with a chronic illness, or facing end-of-life issues. The highly trained staff also helps family members by offering counseling services, support, and education. The focus of this project is to honor the valuable contributions of Mt. Evans Hospice and Home Health Care to our community and to convey the spirit of hope and strength that characterizes the organization.
EVERGREEN, A BRIEF HISTORY
Evergreen is a vital community in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, a short drive west of Denver. Originally populated by ranchers and people seeking summer refuge from the heat of the city, Evergreen experienced rapid growth and development in the 1970’s as people were willing to commute in order to enjoy the benefits of mountain living. Throughout its history, Evergreen residents have cherished the abundant wildlife, scenic vistas and open spaces. Blue skies, ponderosa pines, creeks and lakes comprise an inspiring environment in which to live. A thriving art community works to complement the beautiful natural environment of the area.
